Mr. Benfield attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law on scholarship. He honed his trial skills in the top ranked trial program at Loyola Chicago, and received the degree of Juris Doctor with a certificate in advocacy. In completing the well respected Advocacy Program, Mr Benfield studied Trial Advocacy, Appelate Advocacy, Federal Criminal Litigation, Advanced Negotiation, Advanced Evidence, and Courtroom Technology; participated in hundreds of mock trial scenarios, and negotiation workshops; completed three full internships, and worked with Assistant United State's Attorneys, Federal Public Defenders, District Public Defenders, Assistant Attorneys General, and well respected lawyers in private practice. Here in his hometown Mr. Benfield has conducted jury trials both for the public defender, as a Rule 9, and in private criminal practice. Mr. Benfield has worked on cases in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties, handling everything from deferred prosecutions and stipulated orders of continuance, to motions to dismiss and jury trials. He is respected for his trial skills and ability in advocacy both oral and written, and was honored with the CALI award for both oral and written advocacy.
